The album has four originals and three remixes, and a musician like Pritam who has perfected the art of creating hits. It’s really long since we had a full-on masti number. The ispecialsemi-Marathi and hip-hop numberNana Chi Taang is truly ‘kewl’, and as the song is picturised onAkshay Kumar, it is no less than a double bonanza. This song byKunal Ganjawala has a pace and tune that makes it click instantly with the listeners. The Nana Chi Taang Remix is no different. Remixed by Kiran Kamath, the song is even better than the original with an extra punch. With that unmistakable rap touch of Flo Rida’s super hit number Right Round by U.R.L, the dance number is an excellent fusion. PS: Don’t plague your mind with ‘Nana Chi Taang’ phrase; it means ‘Teri Aisi Ki Taisi’ in Hindi. Sajde, a typical Bollywood love ballad, is a mushy number which allows the beautiful pair of Akki and Trisha to dance in gorgeous dresses against lovely backdrops. The number isn’t mind-blowing, but yeah, it will have many takers because of its simple melody and romantic lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The Remix version gets a sensuous touch with Harshdeep Kaur’s voice. The number is an average composition. Paying ode to the theme of corruption is the song Bull Shit, composed by new-age composer Shani. Singer Shehzad Roy belts out this song in which the sarcastic lyrics stand out more than the music. The number takes a pot shot at the corrupt system and political scenario of the nation. In a bindaas style, Daler Mehndi sings in Marathi instead of Punjabi. Aila Aila is soused in Marathi folk. It is another fun track like Nana Chi Taang. The sensational vocals of Kalpana Patowary add to the USP of the track. Kamath does the Remix version and peps up the mood. The album is short but fun-filled. The tracks will sure add to the buzz surrounding the movie. The Priyadarshan-Akshay-Pritam troika hardly fails when it comes to music and withKhatta Meetha they have hit the bull’s eye again. With throbbing music and punchy remixes, Khatta Meetha has a balanced soundtrack. Nana Chi Taang, Nana Chi Taang remix, Sajde, Aila Aila remix are enjoyable numbers. Rating - 3.5 stars out of 5

Danny and Anurag want Aamir for ‘Bombay Velvet’

A few days back, there were reports claming that superstar-rivals SRK and Aamir were all set to share screen space in Danny Boyle’s joint venture with Anurag Kashyap, ‘Bombay Velvet’. But now, Bollywood’s much-acclaimed filmmaker, Kashyap, has out rightly refuted rumours about Shah Rukh’s association with the project. “All that you have read about ‘Bombay Velvet’ is completely false. Danny and my eyes are fixed on Aamir and no one else. I’m certain that Aamir will love the script and would want to come on board.If Aamir does not take up the offer, we will look for someone else, but we are definitely not looking at Shah Rukh for this movie. We both feel Aamir is the best guy. We have not even thought about a back-up because we are hoping that we will be able to get Aamir,” said Anurag. Kashyap, who has been busy working on the script of the flick for several months now, added, “The script is finally locked and it’s turned out different and nice. We begin casting as soon as we have the lead in place. We feel Aamir has the intensity and the depth to shoulder the movie all alone. Shah Rukh is a nice actor but this film is tailor-made for Aamir. We are narrating the film to Aamir in a couple of weeks.Danny won’t be able to come down for it but is looking forward to Aamir’s response.” Earlier, it was revealed that Shah Rukh was approached by Danny for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ for the role which was eventually played by Anil Kapoor. But this time around, Shah Rukh has not even been approached because both Danny and Anurag want to have Aamir as the solo lead.

Sonam Kapoor wants to work with dad

Sonam Kapoor is gearing up for two releases in quick succession, I Hate Luv Storys in July, followed by Aisha in August. The actress, who plays a Bollywood Emma, is super excited. “After the shooting was over, I had nothing to do,” says Sonam, who was at the Fever 104 FM studio.“Once in a while, I’d be called to look at a rough cut of a song, but otherwise, I rarely stepped into our Juhu office. My sister, Rhea, the film’s producer, never interfered with my work on the sets and so I don’t interfere with hers. As for dad, he never butts into either of our jobs.”Sonam denies rumours of having signed a film with her actor-producer father Anil Kapoor, but admits that she wants to work with him. “Not because he is my father, but because he is a ‘jhakaas’ actor. I did an ad with him, now I’m craving to do a film,” she says.

Director Rohit Shetty is known to treat his team to a great time on and off the sets. After a hard day’s work during the shooting of Golmaal 3, Rohit organised a particular screening of the latest action comedy film, The A- Team, for his entire team.The screening was held at Rainbow theatre on the premises of Ramoji studios in Hyderabad where the last leg of Golmaal 3 is being shot.The cast, including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu, watched the film with Rohit. They also had writers Sajid Farhad, cameraman Dudley and art director Narendra Rahurikar for company.Kareena Kapoor could not make it as she was shooting for a brand endorsement.A source confirms, ” Rohit announced after the shoot that he had organised the screening of The A- Team. Hansika finds fan in Prabhu Deva?

Hansika Motwani, who is shooting in Paris for Prabhu Deva’s southern movie, has impressed him.It rained in Paris for two days and instead of sleeping away the sudden break or spending it shopping, Hansika decided to learn some dance from Prabhu.She has always wanted to learn Salsa and Tango and Prabhu taught her a mix of both. We hear he was impressed by the ease with which she grasped the steps.Lastly, when the skies cleared and the shoot resumed, Hansika worked nonstop for 15 hours to make up for the lost time.Prabhu says, ” Hansika is beautiful and talented. Her commitment towards work at such a young age is extraordinary. She is a star in the making and I enjoyed teaching her.” Hansika is no doubt delighted.She says, ” To work with Prabhu sir is a dream come true. Trisha’s voice is being dubbed by a professional in this Priyadarshan directed film because the actress, who plays collector, was required to have a perfect diction.“I actually did want to dub for my lines in ‘Khatta Meetha. I can read and write Hindi very well; my spoken Hindi is quite good too,” Trisha, who is in Europe shooting for her new Tamil film, told PTI. “Since I enact the role of district collector, the spoken language had to be impeccable. It had to be perfect Hindi with no slang being used whatsoever.

Is Freida Pinto set to go ‘Ape’?

June 25, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Designed as a sequel to the super successful Krantiveer (1994) which got Nana Patekar the Best Actor, National Award, Krantiveer – The Revolution (KTC) is a weak attempt at recreating the patriotic fervor which the original had.

Roshni (Jahan Bloch) is the young daughter of the man responsible for the last revolution, Pratap Narayan Tilak and his wife (Nana Patekar and Dimple Kapadia). She just like her dad wants to rid the nation of corruption, and the evils present in the society. She gets herself a platform by joining a TV channel as an investigative journalist. She is hell bent on exposing all the scams in the country including those involving high profile businessmen and top ministers. Along with her friends Vishal (Samir Aftab), Goldie (Aditya Singh Rajput) and Uday (Harsh Rajput) she takes this crusade forward and becomes successful eventually despite many odds.

The sole reason why Krantiveer was a success was because of KK Singh’s dialogues, Nana Patekar’s character and Mehul Kumar’s direction. Here Singh is not involved with the project, Nana is not acting in the film and the veteran director though having made a sincere attempt, falls short. There is no direct relation of the plot to any of the 26/11 terror attack scenes which come towards the climax. Though Mehul Kumar has tried to show authenticity by using footage of the 26/11 terrorists attacks, he fails to impress the audiences.

His debutante daughter Jahan has been made to rant lengthy dialogues from the word go. While she does it with sincerity, it doesn’t really work. Too much responsibility has been given on her shoulders leaving less scope for the rest. New comers Samir Aftab, Adiya Singh Rajput, Harsh Rajput put in their honest efforts too. Senior actors like Ranjeet, Farida Jalal hardly get any scope to perform. Aman Verma playing the corporate head honcho, Mukesh Tiwari and Govind Namdeo playing sleazy ministers act well.

Music by Sachin-Jigar is passable and the songs ‘Khuda mere khuda’ and ‘Chhote tera birthday aaya’ work on screen. But the songs ‘Firangi paani’ and ‘Lau jalee’ were not needed. Editing and cinematography don’t match up to standards.

Though it may not be worth an effort to go to the cinema hall, the film definitely appears like a genuine attempt to awaken the young Indians to come forward and erase corruption from our politics.

June 25, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Aditya Mehta (Prashant Narayanan) is an artist who is more shown painting his wife’s toenails than the colours of the canvas. His wife Sakhi Mehta (Lucy Hassan) is shown to be having an extramarital affair with Karan Singh (Naved Aslam). Now, Karan’s wife Neera Singh (Aruna Shields) discovers that her husband is cheating on her and she ends up seeking solace in Aditya’s company. They get drawn together by shame and anger as they find more comfort in each other’s friendship. But despite bonding well, they try not to have a relationship with each other.

One fails to understand that though the adultery is shown openly obvious since the start, why do Aditya and Neera never try to confront their respective partners over it? Trying to make the film more provocative widespread nudity has been incorporated on the pretext that overcome his block by painting nude female form ala Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic. Now funnily, Neera is shown to be shying away from posing nude for the painting that Aditya wants to do, despite the fact that she has been shown moving around naked in Aditya’s warehouse for big part of the film. What irritates more are the continually censored blurs that attempt to cover up her nude body. The climax is supposedly symbolic but it is too rushed that you end up feeling there some more of the film left! There is nothing wrong in making a complete art house project but at least let the film connect on some level or derive some emotion out of the viewer apart from frustration!

Debutante director Pravesh Bhardwaj takes his own sweet time to establish the growing proximity between Aditya and Neera but leaves it hurriedly towards the climax. The film’s shot in London but you don’t see much of it apart from some unflattering lanes of London. A wonderful ghazal based track by Shujaat Hussain Khan goes waste in a film like this.

Prashant Narayanan is just about okay but he has done better work before. Aruna Shields is made to expose her body more than her acting skills. Lucky Hassan is passable. Naved Aslam is fair.

The film is a plain bore with nothing good to talk about. Please avoid!
